Government notices warn taxpayers to lodge land tax returns by August 31 1930. Late returns incur penalties. The tax commission cites E H Cornish as Commissioner. Returns cover midyear holdings and unimproved land values of £3000 or more for residents, with penalties starting at £1 for late lodgement.
The Jamestown Croquet Club announces its annual general meeting at the Club House on Thursday August 28 at 7 30 pm with officer elections and other business. A monthly meeting will follow in Society's Room Irvine Street on Monday August 26 at pan with talks on care of farm machinery by Mr G Napper and on the farm vegetable garden in the Belalie district by Mr W E Symonds. All members and interested locals welcome.
At the monthly Gladstone Branch Agricultural Bureau meeting this evening Mr. J W Gale will read a paper on the sale of farm products.

The Railway Tennis Club held a bridge and euchre evening at the Refreshment Rooms on Thursday last with many residents present. Winners were Bridge Mr. A. Lee and Mrs. J. P. Martin and euchre Mr. F. Weinert and Mrs. H. S. Preece. A sumptuous supper concluded the successful function.
A motor car reported stolen from Padfield's Motor Garage Piriestreet City was found abandoned near Georgetown yesterday morning by Mounted Constable Gard ner. Earlier two men near Gladstone in Toad were arrested by Mounted Constables Crafter and Hud sum and were taken to Adelaide on Tuesday morning by Mr Crafter.
