Alma College Endowment Moves Forward With Large Gift Plan

The Alma College drive advances as Thomas Merrill of Saginaw pledges 25,000 to raise endowment to 255,000 with Carnegie funds pending in Scotland. The college also receives Cherry Hill Farm of 100 acres to support an experimental industrial education program enabling poor youths to study while working. New buildings and accommodations will house 25 to 100 students as Alma adopts a novel outdoors and industrial education model.

Armada Grange holds reg meeting and passes hall use

Armada Grange No 500 met in regular session September first with 26 members and 10 officers led by W M Peck. They voted to rent the lower hall for township use at 15 dollars yearly and elected delegates to the County Convention, with a program noting songs readings and talks on road laws alfalfa cleanliness and school medical inspection. Penny march raised 27 cents.

The Sumner Grange No 803 met in regular session with 11 officers and 16 members present. Reports approved. Miss Vel Sharpe Opens Alma Recital in College Chapel

Miss Vel Sharpy, a Michigan Conservatory graduate and Europe-bound, opened the Alma College School of Music recital series in the college chapel.
