Alma's Oldest Resident Henry A Delavan Passes Away
Henry Augustus De Lavan a pioneer who arrived in Alma in 1570 built the first brick building and an elevator, ran a mercantile store with his sons, and fought for Republican values. He died Saturday after years of blindness and helplessness, leaving five children and a request for a band at his funeral. His remains will be interred in Jonesville beside his wife.
