Train Robbery Near Cotopaxi Colorado Shocks Rail Route
Seven robbers halted an eastbound express near Cotopaxi Colorado on Monday night forcing Hagman to surrender all torpedoes and flag the train. Express Messenger Angert resisted with a pistol as the crew and passengers were unharmed. The band escaped with about $5,000 from the strong box and fled into the valley, while a surrounding pursuit began. The incident sparked national attention as reports linked it to broader social unrest and a Bellamy-inspired utopian project observed in nearby towns.
