Dodds Wins Republican Nomination in Eleventh District
Francis H. Dodds of Mount Pleasant wins the Republican nomination for Congress in the eleventh district by a large margin estimated between 2000 and 2500 votes. The race, one of the bitterest in the district, saw strong support for Covell in several counties but Dodds carried most townships and counties, including Isabella, Gratiot, Osceola, Mecosta, Clare, and Kalkaska with varying majorities, while Traverse City cast 400 against Dodds. The outcome unites Covell supporters behind the regular nominees for the general election.
