Flames and smoke erupted Saturday around 1 o clock from the rear of Mrs J M Hye obke millinery shop. Firemen saved adjacent buildings but the interior was heavily damaged and goods were a total loss. Insurance covered 400 and 300 respectively. owner plans to resume once repairs finish.
In Ithaca county, Frank Jamison, 19, from Yell owear County Ohio, faces a court hearing after an accidental rifle discharge at the Nevins farm killed Nora Johnson, 18. Jamison testified he was showing the rifle to Nora after a piano scene, the gun fired, and Nora died at the scene. The affair ended with a funeral for Nora Johnson and Jamison placed under scrutiny as the coroner’s inquiry and inquest proceed.
Seth Tubbs had a close call returning from his father’s farm when the wagon broke near four miles from town. The wagon overturned, a horse died, another was injured, and Tubbs lay semi conscious by the roadside before a passing wagon rescued him. He suffered broken bones but recovered enough to travel home the next day.
A young woman named Besry Flowers was arrested by Anuidersheriff Bation and faced a larceny complaint in Justice Chatwick's court. The jury failed to convict, delivering a verdict of not guilty after testimony about goods purchased and related alleged thefts.
