A Pretty Autumn Wedding Ends At Home Of Bride’s Parents

The wedding of Miss Melon Scattergood of this city to Mr Murray Kellogg of Hillsdale occurred Wednesday morning October 2 at the home of the bride’s parents Rev Williams of St Johns Church led the ceremony beneath autumn leaves. A five course breakfast followed and the couple left for St Louis and Chicago. Mr Kellogg, a Hillsdale County native, and Miss Scattergood, long in Ithaca and Alma, received many congratulations. Gifts included silver gold and cut glass from relatives and friends. Attendance included out of town guests from Hillsdale Saginaw Reading and St Johns.

Tragic Gasoline Poisoning Claims Local Child

Doris Mary Belbeck, one year old daughter of Mr and Mrs John Belbeck, died after drinking gasoline found in a small can while playing in the house. Efforts to save her were fruitless. Funeral was held Sunday.

Carnegie Hero Award Granted to Michigans Belle Bi Gitwon

Belle Bi Gitwon of Riverdale widow of Elbert W Giteon receives 35.4 months of payments for each of her children and 8 months for herself as part of a Carnegie Hero program honoring local rescuers. Gitwon risked her life January 11, 1407 while attempting to save Merry Vallance from drowning. Vallance died in the incident.

Miss Kate Newhit returned to her home in St Louis Wednesday. Miss Maud Hooper recovered well after an appendectomy, and Mrs Reuben Cummings underwent an appendicitis operation Tuesday and is getting along very nicely.
