Board of Equalization Sets County Valuation and Poor Superintendent

The report by the superintendent of the poor shows a year ending October 1, 1909 with a cash balance of 21000 and total receipts of 7975.51. The county board increased total assessed value to 15,600,000 after equalization, with real estate 11,? and personal property 2,010,072, and 300,046 acres valued overall. J. P. Whitman was elected a member of the Board of Superintendents of the Poor by a narrow vote, and Holly Rose was named School Examiner with broad support.

They Are Married Miss Nina Knickerbocker Weds Fred Schaufer

Miss Nina Knickerbocker formerly a milliner at Mrs Gattney’s and now in Mt. Pleasant wed Fred Schaufer of the Michigan Central land and tax department on Saturday evening October 1. The couple, en route to Carson City to visit relatives, were delayed at Ann Arbor station, rice showered, then returned to the depot to catch the Pere Marquette westbound. Congratulatory messages from friends followed.

Next Session Held in Flint by Alma Delegates

Alma delegates and Presbyter ian synod representatives to the annual session, held in Cadillac last week, returned Friday. The synod voted to meet next in Flint and adopted two resolutions including redistricting the Michigan Presbyteries and a retirement plan for pastors aged sixty with thirty years in gospel service, offering life annuity with a 20 percent personal contribution. The plan awaits report at the next general meeting while committees review presbyteries.
