Death of Mrs Susan Dunkling in Seville Township
Mrs Susan Dunkling died at her home near Elwell on October 9 1906. Born February 2 1827 in England she came to the United States in 1850 and settled in Lockport before moving to Michigan in 1877. She leaves seven children formerly, two surviving daughters Anna Hills and Azalia Dunkling, three grandchildren Mary Snellenberger Charles and William Hills, and an only sister Mrs Hobson of Buffalo. Funeral service at Center church was conducted by Elder Lemuel Teed with Elwell choir providing music. Burial followed beside her husband and mother in Center cemetery.

A $55.74 collection aided school expenses and a Monday offering in St Louis raised $81.25 for the Home. The Home, a unique profit sharing colony, has over twelve hundred joint owners and managers, with dividends paid each Thanksgiving week. Boys become citizens through service and discipline, earning wages for chores and banking surplus as future capital.
