Earl Abbott son of Mr and Mrs D F Abbott died by self inflicted shotgun wound at his home near Elwell on Saturday noon. He had been in good spirits while helping his father in the peach orchard. He had recently worked in Adrian and Detroit and had packed to return there. His motive remains unknown. He leaves five sisters and one brother. Funeral at Center church with Rev Blanchard officiating and burial by Riverdale Odd Fellows.
Philip Isaac Hilsinger died Monday morning at his Biwell home after a lingering illness of blood poisoning at age seventy six. A Gratiot county resident for thirty six years he was widely known as Uncle Ike. He leaves a wife eight children two sons and six daughters. Funeral was held Wednesday at 2 pm at the Elwell church. He was buried in Pritchard cemetery.
