REASON DETHRONED

Henderson Shaver, formerly of this city now at Box Elder Montana, reports the death of Mrs. Charles Harlock. She died instantly by gunshot on the morning of the 11th after placing a revolver to her temple. Funeral services were held at the home Wednesday at 2:80 o clock, Rev. Shenefelt and Rev. Elliott officiating, with burial on Harlock farm. The Harlock family and many friends extend sympathy.

Langdon Given Suspended Year Sentence For Car Theft Joy Ride

Judge Searle imposed a one year suspended sentence on Stanley Langdon after he pleaded guilty to stealing a Sweet automobile and taking a midnight joy ride. Langdon must maintain good behavior, work, deposit half his earnings in a bank, abstain from intoxicants, and report to the County Agent every 30 days. If any term is violated he will be recalled for sentencing.

Buried Under Coal Wildreth Wellman Survives

Fireman Wildreth Wellmann of the Ann Arbor escaped serious harm after being buried beneath six tons of coal when a tender backed to the docks. He slipped while loading, coal rolled over him, was dug out and rushed to the hospital with only bruises and no broken bones reported.

Waterman formerly with Messinger & Co opens the stock of dry goods in Alma on Wednesday morning. He comes from Mt. Pleasant highly recommended as a successful dry goods merchant. Gymnasium Classes for Children and Young Ladies Start Saturday

Sugar Beet Factory Closes Amid Wet Fields Delays

Wet field conditions force the local Sugar Factory to shut down last Saturday after a period of beet shortages. Town Heroine Injured Riding Horse At St Louis Game

Miss Wealthy Graham daughter of Mr and Mrs C B Graham was seriously injured Friday afternoon in St Louis after being thrown from a horse. She struck a steel roller in the fall and was hurt on head and limbs, regaining consciousness two hours later. She rode with Miss Nellie Nelson to view Alma St Louis High School game and was among bystanders when the accident occurred. She was brought home to Brand’s photo school area after medical help arrived.

A big show is planned for the first half of next week featuring De LaGeneste's hypnotism and magic act. He has toured major cities and is known for escapes from handcuffs and jail. Miss Shetnire Walker visited on Friday forenoon while Wealthy Graham was absent ill. Miss Florence Wood had four visitors, Edna Kulilovgan called, and the school closed early Friday for a football game in St. Louis where a large crowd attended. Junior class pins arrived and were worn. Mrs. Bergman visited during chorus. Mr. Veateh spoke about college concerts. College students Rowisifer and Robbins visited, George Himmelmeyer attended Friday classes. The football team travels to Tig Rapids Friday to play their high school, and the first team defeated the Barbarians 12 to 60 Tuesday afternoon.

Humeral Services For Miss Edna Stevens Held At Home

Funeral services were conducted at the Stevens residence by Rev JW Priest of the Baptist church with a college mixed quartet performing two selections. Miss Edna Stevens, a former eighth grade student, died from hydrophobia after a dog bite last June. The death, shocking to many in the city, occurred early Thursday morning following illness.
