Old St Jo the Fabled Lost City of the South
A historical reminiscence recalls Old St. Jo, a thriving Gulf Coast city built in the 1840s by ambitious merchants and planters. It flourished on the Apalachicola to St. Joseph route but was erased by fate and sea. The piece notes early transport upheavals, prosperous residents, and a harbor scene marred by heat, mosquitos, and a mysterious yellow guest aboard a tropical vessel.
