Congressman elect Vincent will address Alma Armistice Day observance as Geo W Myers Post No 132 American Legion and Troops 106th Cavalry unite to mark the end of the Great World War.
Armistice Day observance in Alma will feature Congressman Elect Bird J. Vincent as speaker after a morning program led by George W. Myers Post 132 and Troop C 106th Cavalry. A 10:55 firing salute precedes a parade along Superior Street ending at the Wright House corner for Vincent to speak. Afternoon attendance at the Albion College Alma College football game is planned.
The Gratiot County L O T M met with the Ithaca Hive at the I O O F temple in Ithaca on Wednesday November 1. Commander E J Alexander of St Louis opened the session. Dr Blanche Haines spoke on child hygiene and public health nursing. A noon potluck for 175 followed at the Baptist church. Judge James E Kress of Alma gave the welcome. Mrs H A Shepard with 30 fourth graders presented a safety playlet on disease prevention. Awards went to Forest Hill Hive for attendance and St Louis Hive for most life benefit members. A child clinic was held under Dr Haines with assistance from Dr Chase and others. The session closed with plans for Alma Hive to entertain later.
A mall fire at the Gra tiot County Gas plant last Friday morning was quickly quelled. Coke from the ovens ignited woodwork on the trestle but was contained after chemicals and water were applied. Donald J. Dunham, Albion College senior, was elected editor of the Albionian and will represent Albion in the Michigan Intercollegiate Oratorical Contest after winning the varsity oratorical title. An armless marksman fired ten shots very close together, with cent piece distance between them.
Alma College Athletic Association offers a reduced price for ex service men for the Albion College Alma College championship football game on Armistice Day Saturday.
Mrs. Mary McCullough and Mr. Harry Clark were secretly married at 7 30 p m Wednesday evening by Justice of the Peace Joseph L Biggerstaff at the bride’s home. Only close relatives attended and friends were surprised. The couple, longtime Alma residents, will continue to live in the city.

Mrs. Helen B. Poulsen will speak on Child Life Thursday evening November 1. A traveling teacher and lecturer, she has visited every state and says children are coming leaders in society. Her talk promises practical, helpful ideas for parents, with support from Parente-Teacher Association and Public Schools. Admission is free. Alma Art Club to host a Charity Concert on Nov. 24, 1922 at 8 p.m. at Presbyterian Church of Alma, proceeds to Welfare Association. Local talent to perform. program to be announced.
Notice states bills are due the first of each month with a 10 percent discount if paid by November 20. The deadline marks the last day the discount applies to telephone bills.
Tuesday election produced multiple upsets as Townsend failed to win re election and the entire Republican ticket gained broad victories. Vincent won a large margin and captured the congressional seat with strong county wide support.
Mrs. Mary Hutchinson of Park Avenue died Wednesday morning after a long illness at age 76. Survived by son Lavin Waterhinson and daughter Pearl Decker, with services Friday at 2 pm from Park Avenue home. Tur in will be sande in Riverside cemetery.
