Arcada Farmers Club Holds October Meeting at Mattern Home

Bursting Saw Fatal in Frankfort Mill Accident

In D B Batters Ighingle mill last Tuesday William Danevant was killed and John Archer severely injured when a saw broke from its harbor and half its blade struck Danevant in the head. A belt struck Archer, knocking him onto a bolting saw where his left arm was severed and he suffered internal injuries. Danevant was a brother of Joseph and Harry Donovant of this place. their brothers traveled to Frankfort for the funeral.

Wright, one of Gratiot's oldest settlers, dies at 73

Solomon Wright died at his home in Pine River township last Wednesday after a year with stomach cancer and six months bedridden. A longtime Gratiot County settler, he lived on the Wright farm near Wright cemetery and Wright school. He leaves three sons and an aged wife. Funeral services will be held at the U B church this afternoon at two o'clock with interment in Wright cemetery.

After careful canvassing of applicants the Sanitarium Co has chosen Geo A Kendall to replace Walter Brown who resigned two months ago. Kendall formerly assisted at the Palmer House in Chicago and has three years with Stillman in Cleveland plus two years at The Hollenden. He will arrive Saturday or Monday.
