The Ladies League hosted a Hallowe'en social at Dr. and Mrs. J. F. Suydam home last Tuesday with about forty guests. Participants tested guests' poetic skills, awarding a confectionery prize to Mrs. Wr. Howe and doughnuts to others. A suggestion to repeat monthly was warmly supported. Later, a Sunday accident was reported as Henry Moench's horse, driven by Miss Mary Nickert, bolted after the church bell rang. Mrs. H. B. Stuckey sustained two broken ribs, Miss Nickert suffered a deep head cut and foot injury, while two little girls and Mrs. Stuckey were only lightly hurt.

Local Pioneer Woman Lydia Glover Dies In Accident Near Alma
Mrs Lydia Glover aged local resident died from a broken neck after a fall near the back porch at the home of her daughter Mrs Clarence Clark two miles south and east of Alma. The accident followed a dizzy spell and she had just returned from visiting her sister in the city. She leaves two sisters and two daughters, the funeral held Tuesday at 2 pm with Rev Wilkinson officiating. She is buried beside her husband in Riverside cemetery. The obituary notes her pioneer life in Gratiot county and the family’s long-standing prominence.
