University of Michigan Hears Rockwell To Lead Alma Schools

Allen F. Rockwell, current superintendent of the Vassar schools, is recommended by the University of Michigan and chosen by the Alma school board to take charge next year. Rockwell, a 1900 graduate, has three years as Howard City principal, three as Leslie superintendent, and two as Vassar superintendent, with a steady salary rise and a history of restoring Vassar to approved status. The Record extends welcome as the district prepares for a new era under his leadership.

Alma Flour Mill Claim as Best in Michigan

Alma presents its flour mill as one of the finest and most profitable in Michigan. Built by James Gargett in 1867, it was among the first in the region, operating successfully until a fire in December 1880 ended that era.

Marble Arrested Again on Midland County Sheriff Order

William Marble was arrested last week by Constable Willard on an order from the Midland County sheriff and taken to the facility. Marble is described as not desirable for this institution. Big German carp caught by Alma boys near bridge

On Friday last week Bari Spicer and Geo Frousch, two Alma youths, hooked a monstrous German carp below the Superior 1 bridge. After several tries they landed the 17 pound fish using a makeshift multi-hook rig that has already caught many river carp this spring.

Pleasant Family Reunion Celebrates Mrs Sartor Birthday

About twenty of Mr and Mrs J F Sartor Sr children gathered at their home Sunday for a traditional family reunion. All were present except Mrs J T Le Measurier of Detroit. The five o'clock dinner was served and the day passed pleasantly. The Alma Record for 03 Is a Winner.
