New firm J F Schwarts Furnace Co formed by J F Schwartz and partners Jenlin and Montigel in Alma. Schwartz previously ran a carriage and wagon business then moved to furnace manufacturing, plans expansion with an eight horse power Olde Hough engine and other improvements to meet rising orders as five furnaces sold last week.

A unique birthday gathering honored artist W. W Dension at the Sanitarium last Saturday. Guests included Elbert Hubbard of the Roycroft shop East Aurora and Bruce Amesbury the Chicago exile entertainer. Hubbard spoke on Roycroft work. Amesbury performed dialect pieces. Debt Paying Day at Methodist Church Urges Subscriptions
Sunday morning will be debt paying day at the Methodist church due to unpaid subscriptions from dedication. About 750 dollars remains unpaid and freewill subscriptions will be binding only if the whole debt is covered. Subscriptions called June 23 will due if the target isn’t met, with money paid returned. Henry Johns is charged with stealing a span of horses harness and wagon from his mother in law Mrs. Bertha Sommers. Deputy Hatton arrested him four miles from Sumner and seized the rig. He appeared before Justice Chadwick and bail set at 100 dollars. remanded to county jail if bail not posted.
