Alma Dramatic Club Delivers Strong Under the Gaslight Production

The Alma Dramatic Club staged Under the Gaslight to great approval with Miss Lillian McCullough and H P Hall delivering standout performances. Cast changes due to illness were handled deftly with McCullough stepping in for Bertha McLaren. Ralph Eastman impressed in the memorized role of Ray Trafford. The Wednesday matinee and next week’s show were planned, with proceeds donated to the Alma Fire Department.

CEGOND Annual Meeting Reveals Union Telephone Growth

The second annual meeting of Union Telephone Co in Cegond drew attendees from Mt Pleasant Vestaburg and surrounding towns. Officials reported nearly 600 miles of pole lines and about 1200 telephones across 80 towns, with 20 exchanges, vastly expanding beyond Bell. Directors voted to raise capital to 100000 and invest 50000 in extensions, with new officers elected and 25000 of newly authorized stock to be sold.

Pleasant surprise honors Mr George Soper on birthday

About fifty Odd Fellows Rebekahs and friends gathered Thursday evening to celebrate Mr George Soper’s birthday. Alma Lodge 2th 10 C. F. presented him a handsome past grove collar for his work as drill master and captain of the degree staffs. Mr Soper expressed gratitude, then refreshments were served as guests departed, deeming it good to be an Oddfellow.

Anti-Saloon League Holds Ithaca Convention

The Anti-Saloon League convention met in Ithaca on Tuesday to organize the league elected officers: President Hoy H. Allen of St. Louis Secretary Rev. N. T. Hafer of Alma Treasure F. W. Baleh of Ithaca. They planned immediate work including petitions to prevent inspectors from delaying the local option vote for a year.
