Voters faced a lively contest after opposition to the ticket was uncovered. The election atmosphere grew charged as supporters and critics mobilized, signaling a competitive local political scene.
Election day reveals W M Wilson at 0 votes while Ferdinand Montigel leads with 166 as 210 valid ballots are counted. Voters total 220 with seven unregistered and ten ballots marked improperly. Results show Young 105 for president, Bahlke 2, Kineh 202 for clerk, Marsh 200 for treasurer, Adams 204 for assessor, Sander 201 and Delavan 208 for trustees, Montige 165, Wilton 0. 114 straight ballots cast.
Hooper and Tubbs bought 1M sheep from A. W. Wright, shipped last week to Buffalo and reshipped to Meyer and Houseman for export to England. The flock averaged 128 points per head at about 150 dollars per hundred weight, the total proceeds near 000. Wright fattened the animals at Alma farms for market after a year in transit.
Township Treasurer Decator Coleman was in Ithaca Tuesday and settled with the county treasurer. His efficiency as a tax collector is shown as only 874 of 33755.87 in taxes on reel and personal property remain uncollected, all personal tax is gathered. The drain tax of 750 produced only 4.74 uncollected. near all dog tax collected though a few dogs remain unaccounted for.
The Alma high school alumni association held its annual meeting at the home of Misses Sadie and Grace Mersinger on Friday evening. Officers elected and installed include Mike Arian Holiday president Sadie Messinger vice president Olive Smith recording secretary Ariadne McLaren corresponding secretary Grace Messinger treasurer. The president will appoint committees to ensure a successful reception and banquet.
Orlando Sharp, an old soldier and prominent member of the G A R, died at his Alma home Wednesday night after a week with pneumonia. The five year old, previously in good health, fell ill and passed away.
A Civil War veteran who served in the 11th Michigan Infantry received an honorable discharge. He leaves a wife and one son. The funeral will be held from the M. B. church on Sunday under the auspices of the Grand Army.

In Ithaca last Monday a spirited village election produced a clear contest between Republican and Democrat tickets. M. Br. Baker led the Republican ticket for president while O. E. Webster headed the Democrat slate. Salter withdrew due to holding county prosecuting attorney, and Lt. Cowdrey joined the ticket.
