An established jeweler with over twenty years in the trade offers watch and clock repair services. He guarantees satisfaction, invites trials, and sells a small line of watches clocks and jewelry located first store east of the post office. Also includes a brief old health ad on eye strain and eyewear benefits.
Alma voters approved a $4,000 street bond by a large majority, while a light overall turnout occurred due to a split field. The article also notes local election results for village offices and reports on Alma College events including a Philomathean Society program and a faculty music recital.
Adelia Herrick born December 26 1850 in Lenawee County Michigan moved to Gratiot County in 1853 and died after a brief illness. She married Annaning Westenhaver December 10 1865 and left three daughters Mrs Howard Willard Mrs Wm Kelly and Rena who died as a child. The eldest daughter and Mrs Kelly live in Alma. The second daughter died young. Her husband died in 1883 and she remarried M C Dallas in 1886. She joined the Methodist Episcopal church in May 1844 under Rev J W McAllister and remained faithful. Funeral held March 12 at Dr Kellys home conducted by Rev M D Garrel with a male quartet. She left three brothers Albert, Nelson and Charles Herrick. Floral tribute reflected community esteem. She rests from her labors.
