The Alma Board of Trade held its annual meeting at City Hall with about fifty business leaders in attendance. The gathering celebrated a strong year, discussed new factories and infrastructure, and voiced plans to keep Alma booming toward a 10,000 population goal.

A Monday council meeting in Almawaite heard Central Michigan Light and Power seek a site on the north bank of the Piye River near State Street for a $150,000 to $160,000 power house. The city may set a fair land price, enabling the project and bringing a major new facility to Alma.
