Alma area notes include editor details, salary changes, job ads, church events, and community notices. Reports cover home repairs, school ground work, railroad developments, incidents, and social visits with several named residents and local organizations.
On Monday the seventh, the new edifice opened and received praise for its service. Attendees include Win. Brodin, J. Munro, Geo. Gilson, Thos Shy Bulke, W. Axtell, FP Knorr, J Milles, J Lawrie, Rahike, and local faculty. The normal school contingent attended despite wet conditions, with D. Custer and others among speakers.
The township board of Pine River Township unanimously adopts a resolution to divide the township into three election districts. District No 1 includes sections 1 2 11 12 14 28 24 25 26 and 35 NE of section 27 and SE of section 22. District No 2 covers sections 20 21 28 29 30 4 27 and 22. District No 3 encompasses sections 3 4 18 45 10 20 18 and adjacent quarters. Election sites set for Districts 1 at St Lula District 2 at Alina and the Forest Hill Chapel.
The faculty of Alina village schools has been fully reengaged for the coming year. The teachers are described as efficient and cultured, with the school board praised for securing continuity. Citizens sending children to the schools will be pleased by the decision.
Riverdale correspondence reports Mrs. J. B. Elsworth died at home on May 29 after a lengthy illness. burial followed at Elm Hall cemetery. Other items note Mrs. Eben Li town’s movements, Mrs. St. A. Moble visiting Canada, W. D. Strong repainting his house, dsley of Clare visiting Geo. Saunders, a married couples’ surprise gathering, and Mrs. Bachelor moving into Saunders’ former house.
Arcada correspondence notes spring crops look fine. Stephen Runsom brings home his new wife Emma Strouse, with well wishes. Miss Cori Angell teaches in the district, Fullerton teaches in the Davis district, wishing success. Charlie Prichard and family started west last Tuesday for a pleasant journey. S Powers sold a farm to the Kirby brothers. Adwins asylums taken to Traverse City Tuesday for safety.
Irregular town notes report a May 26 incident at Mrs. Wine Van Sickle’s residence involving Joule Pomsey aged 18. Reuben Holliday and wife married housekeeping. Farmers Taylor and Jos Vought visited Elwell last week. Lie sold his farm west of Elwell and plans town relocation. A Saturday hall dance drew a good crowd and pleased attendees. Dr McLaughlin builds an addition to improve his home. A brief dew rain and hail event damaged cabbage and tomatoes but caused no major harm.
Forest Hill correspondent reports Iva Moody visiting Clinton County with Edith Beach returning. Moody brothers travel from Gilmore Isabella County and from Parkinson area, while Thompson moves store to Alma. Belle Hoffman rests for a few days as moodly plans district meeting at Pierson with a program on U S work. Geo Huffman and BE White note about twenty year olds in settlement with Uncle Sam.
