Cattle pasture clash ends with steer buyer on parade
C F Chandler encountered an Ayrshire bull on his farm in Carson City. The bull charged and a man named Chet grabbed the horns, pushing the animal back toward a sturdy stake. After the scuffle, Chet returned to town and sold the bull.

Alma Theatre Passes To New Owners For Remodel
The State Street five cent theatre in Alma, owned by John Drew for several months, was sold last week to L. J. Ramsberger of Dundee and L. D. Spencer of Angress. Possession goes to the buyers Monday they plan remodeling and upgrading the interior and installing a new motive machine and paraphernalia. The theatre will close for repairs and reopen improved.

It Does Pay for Dairy at Alma Farm
It does pay. From seven to one hundred ten gallon cans of cream are transferred daily at Edmoor station for Central Michigan Produce Co of Alma. The dairy industry is growing here as farmers invest in cows. A good herd boosts profits and fertility on the farm.

Ex-Sheriff Petitt Foiled Arrest In Ithaca Standoff
Ex-sheriff P D Petitt attempted to arrest Steve Taft on chattel mortgaged goods charges with a warrant near Ithaca. After one cuff was applied two boys interrupted and a scuffle ensued, Petitt's gun was knocked away and all three fled. Taft was later captured by Under Sheriff Convis and jailed in Ithaca county jail.

Frank Clesson Howland born November 28, 1840 in St. Louis, Michigan, died June 9 1900 in Ancon Hospital Panama Canal Zone due to complications after an operation. Funeral services were held at the Howland home with Rev Luke officiating after his remains arrived from New York.

Storm damages across Isabella Clinton and Gratiot counties
A cyclone like storm swept north from Mt. Pleasant through Isabella and Gratiot counties causing extensive damage to barns trees poles and crops. 87 barns were destroyed or damaged in Isabella county as it moved toward Shepherd Gratiot and St. Louis uprooting trees and wrecking structures. Local losses included an insuranceless farmer A B Leonard who lost a tornado damaged elevator and a new barn plus crops worth about 1500 dollars.
