Alma's Vermeulen department store to add brick rear wing
Prosperity in Alma boosts trade with Vermeulen plans a large brick addition to his three storefronts. The new rear wing will cover about 11 000 square feet on the first floor and, with second floor rooms, create the largest department store in central Michigan. Obituary for Austin Duvenbury in Michigan death
Austin Duvenbury died at his son’s home in Vanderbilt Otsego county Michigan on June 27 aged 70 years four months and four days after a brief illness of brain congestion. Born in Ontario county New York in 1832 he moved to Washtenaw Eaton Gratiot counties and married Rachel Roberts May 3 1855. Eight children survive him five sons and three daughters. Remains brought to Alma for funeral at Free Methodist church officiated by Rev DaFoe. Interment at Pritchard cemetery near Elwell.
