Funeral for Dr Edgar A Bagley Held in Alma

The funeral of Dr Edgar A Bagley aged 74 was held at the Presbyterian Church Alma with Rev. William Mason officiating. Masonic services were at Riverside Cemetery by Alma Lodge 244 PoA M. He was a longtime Alma resident, city leader, trustee of Alma College and director of Alma State Savings Bank. Alma College closed for the funeral hour.

Lyceum number coming soon by Fine Arts Quartet

The Lyceum course committee announces the Fine Arts Quartet will appear Tuesday evening February 7 at the Lyceum course. Announcement reports F. J. Fuller sold Fuller Tire Shop to Ellison Bros, who run a Woodworth Avenue tire shop. Fuller plans to move to Maryland to join C. J. Business leaders weigh rail crisis at Washington conference

Representatives from the Al can Chamber of Commerce may attend a national business conference in Washington on February 9 to address the rail road situation. The National Council of the Chamber of Commerce of the United States will host more than 1,100 organizations. The council plans a constructive program to keep rail service private while avoiding maintenance cuts and a shift to government ownership. A new director nomination system will also be discussed, along with a possible move to the metric system. Arcada Grange installed new officers at its January meeting with W M Karl Kuhlman and other officers. The next meeting is the first Friday in February.

Zero Weather Hits This City

Thermometers plummeted to minus levels over several days with readings of one degree above zero, three below, and six below at dawn. The Alma High School basketball team fell to Mt Pleasant Normal Reserves on their home floor 1 ed, amid harsh officiating and rough tactics. Lynch to Speak at Alaw Chamber Forum Meeting

Janes Lynch of Pantin, former president of the Pantin Chamber of Commerce, will headline the first open forum at city hall. A luncheon for about 130 will follow the forum, with Charles HL Gotan as chairman and a brief program including some election guidance. Tragic Gratiot County Fire Claims Two Boys

Fire swept a farmhouse ten miles north of Lobis on Thursday morning destroying the Woodmansee home and killing two boys Ward Woodmansee and Lawrence Woodmansee aged about ten and seven. Parents Mr and Mrs Woodmansee narrowly escaped with injuries and endured immense shock as charred bodies were recovered from the blazing ruin.

Lecture on Brave Hawk by Harold Loring at High School

Harold A Loring will present four lecture recitals on The North American Indian at the High School Auditorium Saturday afternoon and evening. The event benefits Alma College Athletic Association with school children paying 15 and 25 cents for the matinee and 25 and 50 cents for the evening.
