The funeral of Dr Edgar A Bagley aged 74 was held at the Presbyterian Church Alma with Rev. William Mason officiating. Masonic services were at Riverside Cemetery by Alma Lodge 244 PoA M. He was a longtime Alma resident, city leader, trustee of Alma College and director of Alma State Savings Bank. Alma College closed for the funeral hour.

Representatives from the Al can Chamber of Commerce may attend a national business conference in Washington on February 9 to address the rail road situation. The National Council of the Chamber of Commerce of the United States will host more than 1,100 organizations. The council plans a constructive program to keep rail service private while avoiding maintenance cuts and a shift to government ownership. A new director nomination system will also be discussed, along with a possible move to the metric system.
