Clyde Dutt, 35, electrocuted near Pine avenue while working for Central Michigan Light Power. Dutt leaves a wife, young daughter, parents, two brothers Lieutenant Charles Dutt in the Army and Rev. Dutt in St. Louis, and sister Ruth Tutt.

Enlistment Drive Hampered by Storm This Week
The local recruiting office failed to reach hoped enlistment numbers due to severe weather that halted trains and kept people indoors. Three recruiters will travel to Breckenridge and Shepherd to boost efforts, while a new congressional bill to register men at 21 could affect future enlistments. Blizzard Ravages Alma Michigan Strands Trains
A severe blizzard hit Alma and much of Michigan over Friday to Sunday, bringing extreme cold and high winds. Frostbite cases rose as snowdrifts blocked streets and trains, milk deliveries faltered, and city life paused with dinners skipped and delayed transport. By midweek the streets returned to normal but milk shortages persisted.
