The Hon Edward Burns of New Jersey will lecture on tuberculosis on Thursday January 27 in the Modern Woodmen lodge hall. Burns is the National Lecturer for the Modern Woodmen which backs his authority. The Modern Woodmen of America runs a sanatorium near Colorado Springs Colorado providing free care to lodge members. The facility opened in early January 1900s and is funded by small member contributions. Patients live in tents and receive outdoor living plus skilled medical care. The group aims to prevent spread by education and proper spitting hygiene. Colorado climate is considered especially suited to treating consumption and the Modern Woodmen have advanced the work.

LESTER Hayt Died in California After Four Week Illness
Last Scavlay Sheriff Convis received a telegram that Lester Hayt brother of Mrs. Convis died at 10 oclock Saturday night of typhoid fever at his home in Vasalena California He had been sick four weeks Letters received Sunday indicated his condition was critical but about five days are required for a letter from Pasadena to reach Ithaca The family left Sunday for Pasadena to accompany the body The deceased was once a prominent Albany businessman and active in community improvements The remains will be brought to Ithaca in about three weeks to join relatives and friends.
