First State Bank Stockholders Meet Alma 1906
The regular annual meeting of the First State Bank of Alma Michigan for election of directors will be held at the bank Tuesday January 1906. Polls open ten o'clock a m and close eleven thirty a m. Civil War veteran C H Webster recalls New Year reminiscences and reenlisted in Company H 20th Ohio Volunteers. He was wounded at Stony Creek and kept in Libby prison before discharge September 1865. Webster remains patriotic and fondly regards old memories and the local switch nickname.

Dying Diamond Crook Maxwell Sentenced in Jackson
In St Joseph Michigan on January 3 James Maxwell, famed diamond criminal, was sentenced to Jackson under the Indeterminate Sentence Law. Judge Codigo recommends five years. Maxwell suffers consumption and is a dangerous dope fiend. The court notes the present law is useless and Maxwell may not live through five years.
