H Loveland an longtime resident died at his home in the western part of town last Tuesday afternoon about two. He had heart trouble and age. The funeral was held at the M E church Thursday forenoon and the remains were taken to Mt Pleasant for interment. He was sixty nine years five months two days old. Born in Washington County Massachusetts July 28 1832 he moved to Michigan in 1855 and entered timber and farming in Isabella and Midland counties. He was among the first settlers of Isabella township and served as the first clerk and first Sunday School superintendent. He later engaged in furniture and undertaking in St Louis and Alma before retiring. He served in the Civil War in the 8th Michigan Infantry, wounded at the Wilderness and discharged 1865. He married in Seneca Falls NY May 24 1864 and was active in the Methodist church with republican political leanings.
