Editorial cautions Michigan farmers against agitators seeking higher beet prices arguing last season harmed both growers and factories. It praises local capitalists and notes beet sugar profits stay in local trade, urging fair weighing and honest practices while urging farmers not to kill the goose that lays the golden eggs.
The Alma based Central Michigan Produce Company plans wide expansion with branch stations in Mt. Pleasant Shephard St. Louis Ithaca Howard City Edmore and other towns to buy local produce. Goods will be shipped to Alma for cold storage and re‑shipping. The J J Noyes Co and FW Browns Ithaca firms were absorbed, with the Alma creamery joining March 1 and hand separator technology replacing the old system.
A traveling man asked for the location of St Louis Michigan and a map covering Michigan and Canada. He claimed the Pere Marquette line missed St Louis and listed nearby towns Hemlock Eaton Weidman Remus Mecosta and Alma bus line routes as context. He left puzzled by the railroad’s omission and sought directions to Howland's bus line.

Dr W Kelly enlarges his dental business by seating rooms adjoining his current quarters in the new opera house block. He will connect spaces, add two dental chairs and one assistant, cut an arch between rooms, and furnish them neatly for occupancy around April 1.
Henry Stitt of Fulton, a Gratiot pioneer who settled in Grantot County around 1860, died suddenly last Friday after a normal morning. He served as township supervisor for years and was a Clinton & Gratiot Mutual Fire Insurance director for 15 years. A longtime Mason, his funeral was held with Masonic honors.
