Hundreds of children and their parents attended a community Christmas tree event sponsored by George W. Myers Post 132 of the American Legion. Music by young singers accompanied by parents led to a caroling finale of Holy Night before children lined up to receive gum, popcorn balls, and candy from Legion members and city workers. The event, lit nightly at a tree secured by Dr. C. F. Du Bois, spreading Yuletide joy through giving.

Word arrived that Belle Burgland a well known Alma resident died early Tuesday after a hospital visit in Saginaw She was 1878 born in Bay City and moved to Defiance Ohio then Michigan settling in Alma She worked at Gaffney Style Shop for 13 years and funeral services were held at her home later in the day.

Tragic Farmhouse Explosion Claims Mrs Willert
A morning explosion at the Willert farm killed Mrs. Willert wife of Sheriff A T Willert and badly burned Mrs Earl Willert. The blast shattered a 3 gallon oil can scattering burning oil as the family attempted to rescue her. Firefighters saved the house though the room was destroyed.
