Agricultural Department experiment compares one unfertilized acre with four fertilized plots receiving 100 200 300 and 600 pounds of fertilizer. Beets sown May 10 yield more sugar with fertilizer, acres 2 and 3 outperform 4 and 5, higher tonnage and sugar percentages offset fertilizer costs. overall first beet grower comforted by results despite uneven finish and poor previous crop.

Lite Giant Hay Press Co to Move Plant to Alma

The Alma Board of Trade reports the Lite Giant Hay Press Co has incorporated in Michigan with 16000 capital and will move its factory from Dallas to Alma. W. W. Stopple, general manager, and J. W. Robinson lead a new board of directors. The plant will also produce waste paper presses and related machinery, with construction of a two story building planned for spring start. Four machines have already shipped to Africa.
