Last Saturday evening the foreman of the fashion departments visited the home of the intendent carpenter on West Superior street. He was surprised when George Rogers presented him with a Masonite chart as a gift from the plant staff. Mrs Carpenter served a refreshment as the gathering enjoyed the moment.

The Alma Board of Trade met Monday evening and introduced a resolution by W A Babble with REP Lae opposing passage of the Wil tariff bill moving Congress toward lowering tariffs on rice tobacco and sugar to 25 percent. The measure, adopted without a dissenting vote, calls on representatives in both chambers to publish the board views.

Judge Koappen of Grand Raplie fines Henry Loucks who was convicted in federal court of fraudulently obtaining pension vouchers totaling 1004 dollars. A civil settlement of 14180.09 dollars will be paid to government, covering funds illegally drawn. Loucks has two weeks to raise the amount. failure means jail time. He previously sold a 240 acre Bloomer township farm for about 78000 dollars and will spend around 2000 on attorneys and costs.
