President McKinley lauds the rapid expansion of rural free delivery as a sign of growing national activity. He contrasts Republican support with Democratic inaction, noting routes rising from 2009 to 2604 across 44 states and territories, serving about 3.5 million people.
The thirteenth annual bazaar by the Ladies of St Johns Episcopal at the opera house featured four season booths with ample wares for gifts. A merry go round display drew attention while the ladies offered supper in the evening.
A large crowd welcomed Prof Herbert Milliken's orchestra at the Alma opera house Tuesday night. The program, praised as one of the finest in years, featured Mrs Sharp, Velma Sharp, and Miss Wagner with enthusiastic encores. Highlights included Mendelssohn Wedding March, Ave Maria, Tevitation to the Dance, Last Rose of Summer, and a Sousa orchestral finale. Milliken's pupils and a full ensemble performed with praise for conduct and playing quality.
The state tax commissioner fixed an average rate of 0.47 per thousand for 1907. Total state taxes for the year are about $11,170,000 with a real estate levy down roughly 15 percent and personal property up about 15 percent. The largest change comes from mining property in the upper peninsula.

At the ME church Sunday school board annual meeting held Thursday evening December 6 officers were elected including Superintendent, Assistant Superintendent, Secretary, Treasurer, and Teacher. Names listed include Adelbert Then Beimary Mire Waker and ACM Worrell.
