Michael Shong died at his home on Thanksgiving day November 26 1920 in his 87th year. Born at Lenningen France near Mets he came to Fulton county Ohio at age 12 with his parents. He married Mary O Boyle May 2 1867 and had nine children Nellie Sprague Bend Oregon Mike Shong Kalamazoo Josie Fisher Elwell Cora Vanderbeek Forest Hill Margaret Conley John Shong Will Shong and Kittie Hubbs Alma one infant died. They moved to Gratiot county Forest Hill farm 1881 then Alma eight years ago. They celebrated their golden wedding three years ago with 94 relatives present. His wife died August 19 1919. He leaves one aged sister Mrs Mary Stachely.

He cites successful precedents in Johnson City and Waycross, Tennessee and Georgia, arguing cooperation builds cities and that such an organization would aid Alma’s commercial and civic welfare. He signs as "The Man from Home" and stresses the value of cooperative effort.
