Montigel Brothers Upgrade Plow and Machine Works

The Montigel firm, active since 1871, shifted focus from stoves to plows, carriages, and wagons. Eighth Annual Zeta Sigma Public Proves Highly Praised

Last Monday over 200 gathered in the college chapel for the eighth annual Zeta Sigma public program. W H Long opened with the President's address noting the society's long history and influence in producing teachers ministers and leaders.

World's Fair in Alma Miniature Car Exhibit

A Northern Pacific car carrying a miniature exposition drew crowd attention in Alma last Monday. The exhibit featured grain samples, minerals including gold and copper, 140 fruit bottles, 100 grain bottles, bricks from Washington, and wildlife skins and animals. D. M. Stewart and H. W. Sweet hosted visitors, with the car touring sixteen sites since November 4. The exhibit touted free land and vast fertile acreage offered by Northern Pacific, spanning Minnesota to Washington, urging settlers to seek northwest opportunities.

Alma Becomes Noted Hay Market On Surge in Demand

Alma shifts from a modest hay region to a thriving market as soil suits clovers and grasses. Sag inaw Milling Co. dispatched A. K. McLaney to Way hay, contracting about one hundred carloads totaling around three hundred tons. At six dollars a ton, farmers earned roughly $7200, with hay sent to eastern cities. Four New York buyers visited, praising local hay as top quality and the surrounding farms as premier hay land.

Bazaar at St John’s Church Promises Wide Variety of Goods

The ladies of St John’s church host a Wednesday bazaar offering homely and ornamental articles at affordable prices. Doors open at nine in the morning and run through the day and evening with a Klondike life feature in the evening. Supper from six to nine notes 95 cents, Klondike fare 10 cents.

Remarkable Violin Recital Draws Crowded House at Opera House

Prof Horst and Alma pupils headline an all star program with the Alms Orchestra Miss Thompson Richardson Sol Netzorg Ithaca Miss Lottie Wartz Masters F. Solms Morwe W Bruske and Miss Brauske. A two hour concert received high praise for the orchestral overtures and solo performances led by Prof Glasson. Earl Morse displayed mature expression and Miss Brauske impressed as a child prodigy. The program included a notable Prayer for fifteen violins and Horst plans future free recitals to show pupil progress.

Pleasant Surprise entertains guests at the Sanitarium

At the Sanitarian last Saturday Miss Mo Du¢ of Saginaw sang with readings and recitations aided by Miss Gertrude Whiting at the piano. Miss Ney, a pupil of Miss Eleanora M. Hill, impressed audiences with talent and a fine rendition of Eugene Field’s Seein’ Things at Night, drawing enthusiastic encores.

Art Exhibit and Sale at J T Ewing Residence

An exhibition and sale of pictures by Gibson, Lynch, Smedley, Stephens and other noted artists will be held at the residence of J T Ewing on Saturday, Der 1s, from twee to six pm.
