He moved to Alma, attended Alma public schools and Alma College, graduated 1905, and was a Valparaiso telegraphy graduate. He leaves father F A Leonard and brother B Leonard, with many friends mourning his loss amid war news including Serg Clarence B Perkins and Howard C Wolverton. Perkins, born 1886 in Isabella County, enlisted in Milwaukee then served in the Soo the Philippines and Alaska before training at Mattsburg and Camp Green.
