The Seventh Day Adventists conference in Alma outlined plans to divide Michigan into three conferences along lines near Mason, Ocvatin, Midland, and Isabell, with two southeastern and northern divisions and new headquarters. Officers and committees were named, three new churches were presented in Marine City, Gimmes, and Berrien Springs, and the treasury showed over 42000 in the last year amid a growing, debt-free outlook.
The Alma band of twenty four players will travel to Saginaw next Monday for the Labor Day celebration. Ward and Roy Teeven will perform solo numbers on the vaudeville program, alongside the band’s daytime work. An evening program from Bancroft House balcony features selections by Meron Gentry Trio and others, including overtures and marches.
Hannah Carrier born March 27 1914 died Augnat 1902 at age eighty six years 41x months and twenty eight days. She married Quames Piper in 1930 who died years ago. Seven children were born. only Mrs Theodore Friabie survives and cared for her mother for 22 years. She joined the Baptist church in youth and later the United Brothers denomination with her husband a pastor. Funeral held at the house Tuesday afternoon with remains laid to Riverside cemetery.
Lary Wiles died at his home in Alma on Wednesday of last week at age forty eight years three months and seventeen days. The funeral was held at his home on Piicay Row N with burial in Riverside cemetery. He was born at Pewame Michigan May 2 and lived there until moving to Alma. In the winter of teed he moved to Mise Hateie Holiday where six children survive with his wife and family. The community extends sympathy to the wife and children.
