Delegates to the county convention for the nomination of county officers began arriving at Ithaca Monday evening and gathered to choose combinations that would secure the nomination on the first ballot. The convention opened at 1 o clock Wednesday with remarks from Hon. A. B. Darragh, who introduced J. M. Everdon of Ithaca as a nominee. Theodore Roosevelt was cited as the standard bearer, predicting a large Republican majority in November. Continued on page eight.

Fire swept the engine room of a laundry Friday night around ten, triggering an alarm and prompting a quick response by the fire department. The interior was fully aflame, roof and walls showing through holes, and damage largely falls on A W Brock who built the new section and had no insurance. No cause could be determined for the fire's origin.

The grocery partnership Miller & McCarty dissolved and will be conducted by J. L. Miller & Son. The firm built a good trade in a short period and will continue serving old customers and attract new ones. Miller plans to sell stock and move to Alma this week, while McCarty has not announced plans.
On Thursday August 25 the Ann Arbor A RB will sell excursion tickets to Muskoka Wharf Ontario and return in connection with Grand Trunk Annual Excursion to that point. The fare from Alma is 500 for the round trip good to return September 5 26.97.
