Fragmented Alma Chronicle recounts farm activity, harvest, sales, and public notices. Mentions Silis Mandy inventories wood, Maple Meat Wall pricing, Edmores event, and local advertising. notes teachers and campus plans at Alma College, and impending transportation fares, social events, and community meetings with varied local names and places.
Emma Sheldon, about nineteen, daughter of Lewis Sheldon of Sumner township, died after a dance at Sumner hotel. Drs. Weller Selafer and Kedzie examined the body. symptoms suggested strychnine death. Emma and her sister Agia rode home with two intoxicated men who offered transport. Emma later collapsed at Mr. Gifford’s residence and died after convulsions. A coroner and prosecutor investigated. no clear cause beyond suspected poisoning. Further arrests reported.
