Elisha Ewing Alma young man in the United States service died in a government military hospital in Alabama after a short illness. His parents Mr and Mrs 4 Ewing were notified and left for the south. It is expected his body will be brought home to Alma, to occupy the first soldier grave here of the brave sons who have gone to the front.

Navy Recruiting Station to Visit Alma Weekly
Navy recruiting officer will be in Alma every Wednesday to examine recruits for the U S Navy. All branches are open. Examinations at the Army recruiting station with ages 14 to 44 allowed for enrolment. Men registered for the draft may enlist but need a release from their local draft board. Each applicant must show an age certificate or sworn statement proving age and citizenship before examination. Transportation will be provided to Detroit.
