Alma to Host Gratiot Odd Fellows Day Parade
Gratiot County Odd Fellows assemble in Alma next Monday weather permitting. The parade follows the noon southbound train led by the Ashley band to the opera house for the program. Visiting cantons will perform drills in the afternoon and Lieutenant Governor Patrick Kelly will speak at the opera house in the evening.

Dr Erwin Operated On For Appendicitis In Ann Arbor
Last Friday Dr Erwin accompanied by his father and Dr McClinton left for Ann Arbor where at 2 00 p m he was operated on for appendicitis. He was not seriously ill until about 4 00 p m when an acute attack led to the operation. He is reported recovering and his full restoration to health seems assured.

Frances E Spinney died at her son John D Spinney’s home in Alma on Saturday evening April 17. Funeral services were held at the residence by Rev Harry L Crain and the remains were taken to Ewart Mich, home of her daughter Mrs Frank Lovereen, for services at her daughter’s home conducted by Rev Fo Sonrrah. She was laid to rest in Forest Hill cemetery. Bearers were six Knights of Pythias from Alma. Mrs James Kress accompanied the party to Ewart as a family friend. Born January 1, 184? in Panama NY, maiden name Frances Davis. She married Andrew B Spinney July 1, 1800 in Panama and leaves a son and daughter. Baptized Presbyterian as infant. charter member of Warren Avenue Presbyterian in Saginaw, later transferred letter to Ewart Presbyterian. She had been a grandmother in two households, known as kind and warm hearted, beloved by Alma residents.

A Good Stroke Of Business Demonstration in Mt Pleasant
The Mt Pleasant Courier reported the recent two day demonstration at C F Marsh’s grocery as the greatest ever in Mt Pleasant. The firm sold nearly fifty barrels of Alma Bread Flour and served hot coffee and National biscuits. Frank Lettingweil won nearest to the number of Revere coffee kernels in a quart can and received half a barrel of Alma Bread Flour. Wm Wilson next nearest got a quarter barrel and Mr Vanderman won a free one eighth barrel.

Mail Carrier Lester Thomas Arrested After Leaving Post

Friday Night's Entertainment at Montana Opera House
Heavy rain did not dampen Friday's show at the Montana opera house. The performance was hailed as one of the strongest in days, despite an onstage accident when Mr. Hert Dibble suffered facial injuries from a premature explosion. He finished the act, then traveled to Saginaw for hospital treatment.

Confirmation Services at St Johns Church
Confirmation services were held at St Johns church this week under Bishop Richier with Father Kroegger Merrill Father Miller Glaswin Father Whelan Carson City and Padier Mulvey Alcom. Fourteen were confirmed four adults and ten children and took their first communion. The church was decorated with carnations and lilies and the services were largely attended despite rain and storm.

Governor Warner nominated Townsend A. Ely of Alma to succeed Horatio Earle as Michigan state highway commissioner.
