A convention convened in Reed City today with J N McCall calling the meeting to order at 1 10. Delegates from local groups gathered to discuss city matters and set the agenda for the session.
Francis King of Gratiot and Judge Brown of Big Rapids named as delegates to the Republican National Convention at Chicago. Reed City hosted the district caucus with committees formed for credentials organization and resolutions. Balloting split support between King and Hull with Brown nominated for second delegate and two alternates chosen. Delegates pledged to Taft. local names from Alma Burton, Montcalm and Mecosta counties attend.
Easter Day services at St. Johns feature Holy Communion and morning prayers with hymns and anthems. Soloists include Mr Dudley Tinker and Miss Grave Messinger with Christ our Passover and The Day of Resurrection, followed by Sunday School at 4 pm and a musical service with multiple solos by Messrs. Dlessinger Montigel and Harold Reynolds.
A county Maccaboe organization meeting in the Woodmen ball elected delegates to the Great Camp in Toledo the second week in June. Delegates A E Lewis Ithaca John Burns St Louis A Grane North for J A Ritner Alma Jobo Lanshaw Povest HD John Scott Banminter alternates. A E Lewis elected County Commander for the ending year and W U Raw County Record Keeper. Next meeting date to be set in this city. Mesdames J H Golden and A J Clam visited friends in Saginaw Thursday last week.
In Gratiot county meetings officials pledge firm support for prohibitory laws. Governor Warner states bailiwicks must be ready and officials held to duty with possible action against lax enforcement. Prosecuting Attorney Everden and Circuit Judge Kelley Searle stress strong enforcement to reflect public will.
A civil action in Alma Michigan grew from a dispute over Telephone Company rights in streets. The Union Telephone Company sued Clarence Clark James Weston and Heory Hull Jr for damaging and moving wires to clear a path for a building. Damages were settled and a criminal plea entered with suspended sentence. The case cites Kitvbie Telephone Co v Lamphere in upholding street use rights while not harming other public uses. The affair underscores that wires in streets require clear rules and personal responsibility for cutting and replacement costs.
Miles DeGroft, son of Mr and Mrs Joseph DeGroft, was fatally injured when a horse kicked him in the forehead while being moved from pasture to barn. He died Saturday after skull fracture. Funeral held Monday evening at home by Rev J M Wolfe with burial in Riverside cemetery. family mourns many friends.
Miss Edna Lyman, Tuesday evening April first, in the Alma Springs Hotel gymnasium, will discuss children's literature and storytelling. The program aims to interest those in home life, schools, libraries, and Sunday schools, with stories for both children and adults. Admission is 25 cents.
J A Fleming of Alma Record, Alma Michigan, extends congratulations on a local option victory in Gratiot County. He recalls early Gratiot history, the rough turnpike and forested land, urging continued forestry restoration and praising future voting in Alma and Gratiot for wise ballot decisions.
John S Pittwood a pharmacist at Central Drug Store married Mise Alwa Ingham in Fluahioy on Tuesday at high pown. They plan to reside after April 20th in rooms over Forquer's star. The community extends best wishes from The Hecord and Baptist church members.
The Ithaca republican county convention elected John O. Watson chair and W. N. Gladstone secretary. Committees were named for credentials and permanent organization. Delegates to district and state conventions were chosen, and Francis King was endorsed as a candidate for delegate to the national convention, with praise for King’s character and GOP loyalty. The meeting adjourned after King’s appearance and thanks.

Ellie Phillips named special administrator. Bailey estate heirs determination slated for May 14.

After three years of practice Auditor General Bradley plans to pay the entire primary school fund in May rather than withholding until November as in prior years. He argues the law requires funds to be sent when collected, avoiding keeping money in banks or state accounts. The change would leave about 1.01 million dollars available for districts, with an estimated delinquency of 185,000 and a balance near 25,041 to be apportioned in May.

Ann Arbor railroad workers shave forty five minutes from the prior schedule by running a four car train from Frankfort to Toledo starting Monday night and finishing Tuesday. The 14 hour 5 minute trip remains an hour 10 minutes behind the best G R & L time, with Cadillac and Owosso stopping points noted and criticism shifting from Owosso to Cadillac as delays occur. The crew hopes to improve the record, keeping the rivalry with the Grand Trunk Western line keen.
