Alma City Election Whips Republicans To Sweeping Victory

Alma’s first city election on Monday April 3 drew 669 votes from 700 electors in a strong Republican win. Chas L Delavan carried mayoral race by about 124 votes. Kinch won city clerk by 361 over Udell. Howard Willard carried the second ward as the sole Democrat on the ticket. State ticket also carried by about 75 000 with Kelly Sears ahead as creuit judge. good roads amendment passed by about 300. Local names include Kinch Delavan and several council nominees across wards.

April 18 opening sale at Lee Mercantile Co

Lee Mercantile Co announces a big annual spring opening on Tuesday April 18 led by Manager R P Lee. Accident injures man amid fire wagon rush

J M Montigel was knocked down and run over by a gravel wagon team following a fire department wagon. He suffered internal injuries but recovered enough to walk home. A bystander Bert Theeon attempted to avert the mishap as the two teams lurched into a gutter.

Holmes Charges Bad Faith in March Law Debate

Latimer’s 72nd Birthday Surprise at Farm Home

Mrs. R OC Larimer Priday organized a morning gathering at Latimer’s Alma farm west of the city to honor RC Latimer on his 72nd birthday. Twenty five children and grandchildren attended along with relatives from Detroit Toledo and Alma.
