Funeral for Rev Francis Flewelling Held in Alma
The funeral of Rev Francis T Flewelling of the Free Methodist church was held Saturday at 1 pm. He died March 28 from Brights disease after four years illness. Born July 26, 1831 in Warren County New York, he lived in Michigan since 1844. Survived by his wife and two sons Frank L of Cleveland and Rev Ralph Tyler of Boston. Burial at Wright cemetery. Attendees from out of town included J Jones family Willard Muhn Mrs W J Canwell and A P Plewelling.

New Railroad Restaurant to Raise Hotel and Walkway
Mrs Metlarty, operator of a Prospect avenue restaurant near Union station, plans a hotel and ranch room across the tracks from the railroad station. The old Joseph Drew property will be rebuilt into four hotel rooms ten feet two stories high with lockers, parlor, rest room, dining room, kitchen, and combined office lunch room. A walkway will connect to the station for easy access to Ann Arbor and Pere Marquette passengers and railroad men. Mrs McCarty aims to cater to travelers and railroad workers.
Hood family relocates to Rapid City due to church transfer
Reverend W L Hood and his family leave Alma for Rapid City South Dakota as he transfers from the Michigan synod to the South Dakota synod to continue his Presbyterian missionary work. Florence and Bristow Hood near graduation from college and high school. Marion is a high school sophomore. Stanley is in the lower grades. Alma misses a popular family active in the community as they prepare to settle in June.

Pine River township names new supervisor candidate
Gordis Smith, longtime supervisor of Pine River township since 1891, is omitted from ballot. Elmer N Post is the People's party candidate with no opposition. Smith, 78, says he is nearly worn out after decades of service and endorses Post for the job, noting voters have sought his successor for years.

Ellicott and Hubbard to Open New Up-to-Date Restaurant
Ellicott and Hubbard plan to occupy the adjacent store room in about two weeks and install a first class restaurant with seven tables a lunch counter and a soda fountain later. Brakeman Injured in Alma Roller Mills Siding Accident
James Graim of Saginaw, a Pere Marquette brakeman, fractured his collar bone Saturday morning when he was crushed between a moving train and Alma Roller Mills platform siding. He was treated by Dr. Lamb, walked home with engineer Ray Madden, and remained briefly at 314 West Center Street. Graim’s crew included Len Dickinson and Chas Land. no crew fault was found.

Great Hive Officers Here Celebrating Silver Maccabees Anniversary
The Alma hive of the Ladies of the Modern Maccabees celebrated the silver anniversary of the order in the Knights of Pythias hall Alma with attendees from nearby towns and two state officers. The program featured piano solos by Rita Day a welcome by Dr J N Day Jr and a talk by Mrs Nellie Babke on the order’s early history referencing the 1886 organization by Mrs A G Ward of Muskegon.

A fire Monday consumed the hardware store and warehouse of W. C. Pugsley and the meat market and home of Ed Matthewson in Elwell, with total losses around $6,000. Geo Dalrymple, owner of the adjacent blacksmith shop, suffered severe internal injuries after a fall. Fire spread rapidly aided by a strong east wind, origin likely an overheated stove pipe in the Pugsley building.
