E C Googe and a crew began building the Santa Fe freight depot on South Third Street between Mulberry and Walnut, 24 by 120 feet, with daily completion targeted. The passenger depot may be placed between Mulberry and and the team seeks 15 carpenters and Sunday work permiso.

A Social Evening for Miss Jennie Wrights Guests

Last night Miss Jennie J. Wright hosted about twenty five young society members for a grand social event. Guests arrived near eight, refreshments at nine, and the youngsters were sent home by eleven in carriages. The lively party was described as a “jolly time” likely to be long remembered.

Dickinson County Normal Institute Opens July 11 at Abilene

The eleventh annual session of the Dickinson County Normal Institute will convene July 11 at 2 p.m. in Abilene's central school, lasting four weeks and ending with teacher certificate examinations. FP H. Graham will lead, with 8 M Cook and W S Jenks instructing. Copies of the revised course are available at local bookstores or the superintendent's office for 10 cents.

Mr and Mrs George Green of five miles south of town drew a crowd by racing through streets after a bet. Night watchman Applegate halted them and they were later fined in magistrate court, totaling 56 dollars, before the husband rushed for funds and returned.
