News from Wichita reports a surge in oil activity across Kansas. Seven new Elk locations join a flood of wells in Montgomery, with production rising in Marion, Butler, Greenwool, Cowley, Chautauqua, Allen, Franklin, and other counties as companies push tests, pipelines, and new pools in fields such as Ursehel Covert and Peabody.
In Bowling Green area Western Kentucky oil field activity surges while drill demand outpaces supply amid favorable weather. Wells along the Davenport pool and surrounding belts report 5 to 100 barrels, with Allen County showing strong wildcatter results and new rigs moving into the county. A large shallow field south of Bowling Green yields oil from a 460 foot sand, and multiple leases including Nealey, Hinton, Hartman, and Graves report productive wells and notable sales to Boston and Detroit interests.
Syndicate reports several completions and prospects across Allen and Mt. Arial. A Pearson lease well east of Alonzo yields sugar sand at 387 and 127 feet with high gravity oil. John Goodrum pool opened. Bessle Buchanan lease near Gainesville pool sees about 100 barrels. American Eagle strikes gas above shale on C G Oliver farm near Mt Arial as drilling continues. Ohio Oil No 1 Oliver at Mt Arial fishing. R H Harris I M Jackson house at Mt Arial breaks bull wheel but plans to resume Monday. D H Bryant Duckett lease Mt Arial active at 120 feet. Bourbon Stamps lease two wells in Wheat pool provide 60 barrels in four hours. Bud Taylor No 1 near Rockfield completed at 480 feet. Cramer Pittsburg reports shallow but most consistent producer in field.
Gainesville Texas Dec 17 five hundred quarts of nitroglycerin were placed in the Muenster well sixteen miles northwest of Gainesville Sunday and the well shot just before darkness. The hole bridged at 1,870 feet and operations were begun this morning to clean out the well. Hundreds of persons from various parts of the county were at the well all day Sunday.
