Jewish Pioneers Live in Desert
A Miami led group of American Jewish pioneers settles in the Negev desert south of the Dead Sea seeking to farm in Israel. Led by Simha Perlmuter the band grew from six to seventeen members with two wives and eight children. They face opposition over Messianic beliefs and residency rights but persist toward their frontier kibbutz dream.

Settlers gain Israeli citizenship after land and water denials
The Perlmutters renounced American status and won Israeli citizenship amid land and water refusals. Authorities arrested settlers during protests, but a court sided with them. Some men found jobs, the army moved them to an abandoned camp, and a girl sergeant teaches five pupils with electricity supplied. The couple longs for steak and department store shopping in the United States. Winter deer migrate in large herds for survival.
