Gilbert R. Boatman 55 of Libertyville died of a heart attack at his home and was buried in Paris Memorial Gardens with military rites. DeRaymond O. Babcock 73, a former Terre Haute resident, died in Detroit with services planned there. Cecil J. Kellar 70 of RR 7 died at Union Hospital and rests at Roselawn Memorial Park. Louis A. Rubsam 55, formerly of Terre Haute, died in Indianapolis with multiple relatives noted.

Texas health officials announced that Mexican visitors will no longer need to prove a recent smallpox vaccination to re enter the United States. Previously unvaccinated travelers were vaccinated by border health authorities.

Ex-Con Kills Tiny Vigo Girl in Evansville Area Case

A released inmate from Terre Haute prison is linked to the murder of a young Vigo County girl. The case involves prior fraud and bad checks, a six month suspended sentence, and a Dyer Act violation. The suspect, Kunz, petitioned for parole in 1965 but was denied and released in May of this year.

A study group linked to Tanzania's sole political party calls for all foreign teachers including Peace Corps staff to be sent home and for government control of schools. It urges socialist teaching and ending religious instruction to curb English influence.

Weather contrasts extend across Indiana and Illinois

Indiana faces temperatures 2 to 5 degrees below normal from Tuesday through Saturday with highs in the low to mid 80s and lows around 60s, cooler midweek, and a half to one and a half inches of rain. Illinois also runs 2 to 6 degrees below normal, cooler late Tuesday into the week, with showers and total rainfall near one inch, heavier in the south.

Juvenile Williams Faces City Court Arraignment

A 17 year old juvenile, Larry Williams of 1530 College, was arrested Sunday at home for public intoxication, disturbing the peace, and resisting arrest after allegedly throwing flower pots and wrecking the house. He struck an officer when officers tried to take him into custody and the city court seeks a waiver for arraignment in city court.

Elder Dies at Marshall. ISU Faculty Veteran

Harry E. Elder 77, ISU faculty member 1934 to 1956, died Sunday at Burnside Nursing Home in Marshall. Former Director of Placement and Student Programs, he previously led Monticello schools and Indiana teacher training. Survived by wife Hilma, son Robert, and three grandchildren. Private funeral at Mars Funeral Home with burial in Riverview Cemetery. Friends may call Tuesday 9 a.m. to noon.

William J. Eckert of Brazil Dies at 62

William J. Eckert, 62, was found dead at his Brazil home Sunday morning. Deputy Coroner Phillip Slack Jr. said he likely died of a heart attack Friday night. Funeral services set for Tuesday at Lawson Funeral Home and a 10 a.m. Requiem Mass at Annunciation Church. Surviving: brother Fred Macy and sister Mrs. Josephine Beasley of Spring Valley California.

19 Killed On Indiana Highways

A car crash on Ind 66 near Rockport killed the driver who fled after the impact. David A. Meacham, 39, of New Whiteland, died from a brain blood clot after a crash on a White River bank in Indianapolis. He was found Friday and identified Saturday. an autopsy confirmed the cause. Police noted Meacham had walked to Marion County General Hospital after hitting a parked car but left before examination.

Weekend traffic toll in Illinois rises with 15 dead

AP reports 15 lives lost in Illinois weekend crashes. Victims include 10 year old Johnny Burk of Tinley Park hit on U S 45 near Will County line by Delmer Mather of Frankfort. Other deaths include Ronald Waggoner of Decatur in a head on crash and 23 year old Robert B Shanks near Ipava. A 47 year old Eusebio Hernandez of Chicago was struck on Kennedy Expressway. A Chicago teen rider died after his motorcycle hit a parked car while police cited showing off behavior.

Retired Theatre Owner John B. Stine Dies

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Thomas Funeral Home for John B. Stine 87 of 1109 Maple Ave former owner of the Garfield Swan Theatres at Twelve Points and the Wabash Theatre at Clinton died at 11 p.m. Saturday at Union Hospital He operated theatres in Indiana from 1918 to 1958 and was a member of the Terre Haute Elks Lodge and Knights of Pythias Survivors include nieces and nephews.
