President Eisenhower flew in a two engine or four engine Aero Commander to a Gettysburg area farm, becoming the first president to ride in a small plane. In Bourges France on Thursday night a 27 year old wife of a local delivery man Mrs Pierre Tailibert gave birth to quadruplets all girls. The babies were placed in incubators at a Bourges clinic.

Elwood Indiana June 3 John Melvin 87 of Elwood drowned as he fell face down in two feet of water in Duck Creek. He was found submerged and pronounced dead at the scene.

Governor delays execution of three California inmates

Gov. Goodwin Knight ordered a delay in the executions of Barbara Graham John A. Santo and Emmett R. Perkins to allow 11th hour petitions to the California Supreme Court. Attorney William Strong said he would present a plea based on the people vs. Cahan ruling and habeas corpus. The move came an hour before scheduled execution in a case involving the murder of an elderly widow during a robbery.

Four-Car Crash Sparks $25,000 Damage Suit

Crockett Arthur of Terre Haute filed a $25,000 damage suit in Vigo County Superior Court No 2 against Achelles Delegeannes of Detroit Michigan for injuries from a May 23 automobile crash at Eleventh street and Wabash avenue. The suit alleges Delegeannes ran a red light causing Arthur to hit two parked cars. Total damage to the four vehicles was about $3,150. Driverless tractor hits man in Kimball farm incident

Ed Rickman of Jacinto, Nebr., spotted a driverless tractor circling a field and found a body in its path. He swerved his water truck through a fence and struck the tractor feet from the victim. India Times editor predicts release of 11 airmen in 24 hours

Manila report cites J C Jain of the Times of India saying 11 American fliers imprisoned in Red China may be freed within a day. Jain arrived from Hong Kong and cited a usually reliable source.
